Meet Eliphet, MFK Champion Farmer
Eliphet is a talented peanut farmer who graduated from MFK’s agriculture training program in 2023. He is now in the Champion Farmers program, and works with our agriculture team to continue learning and applying best farming practices.
To support Eliphet’s success as a farmer, MFK gifted him some tools including an ax and shovels. Champion farmers choose from a small catalog of items, and many like Eliphet make selections based on their needs and goals. These tools will help Eliphet more efficiently maintain his land, allowing him to grow and harvest more. With drastic weather conditions in Haiti this growing season, the skills Eliphet gained through MFK’s program will be especially valuable to sustain his crops.
Eliphet has been growing peanuts and cassava for 20 years, and hopes to begin growing vegetables and other cash crops to sell in the local market. Raised by farmers, he plans to teach his four kids the knowledge and joy of farming and providing for their community.
