Our Story
Meds & Food for Kids was founded in 2003 by pediatrician Dr. Patricia Wolff, after witnessing years of needless suffering and the deaths of children from malnutrition. She introduced Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to Haiti, a then new, revolutionary solution.
MFK has since grown from a one-woman operation, hand grinding peanuts and distributing homemade Medika Mamba (“peanut butter medicine” in Haitian Creole) RUTF in recycled containers, to a Haitian-led organization with a world class RUTF factory and team of nearly 100.
As Meds & Food for Kids has grown, we have expanded our focus and impact. Today, we teach Haitian farmers to improve the quality and quantity of their crop yields, we train local healthcare workers to treat malnutrition, and we provide school children with supplemental foods to prevent malnutrition and increase classroom engagement.
