Our Story

Developing a Sustainable Solution

Meds & Food for Kids was founded in 2003 by pediatrician Dr. Patricia Wolff, after witnessing years of needless suffering and the deaths of severely malnourished children. She introduced Plumpy’Nut, a life-saving therapeutic food to Haiti – a new, revolutionary solution.

MFK has since grown from a one-woman operation, hand grinding peanuts and distributing homemade Plumpy’Nut in recycled containers, to a 100% Haitian-led organization with a world-class factory and team of nearly 100.

Meds & Food for Kids has treated more than 1.1 million children and mothers.

As Meds & Food for Kids has grown, we have expanded our focus and impact. Today, we teach Haitian farmers to improve the quality and quantity of their crop yields, we train local healthcare workers to treat malnutrition, and we provide school children with supplemental foods to prevent malnutrition and increase classroom engagement.
