Haiti's Farmers Helping Haiti's Children
Part of MFK's commitment to developing agriculture in Haiti is to provide a strong and stable demand for Haitian products by buying as many raw materials locally as possible. However, Haitian peanut farmers are among the poorest people in the world and their lack of education and capital resources makes it difficult to respond to our demand by growing more and better crops. MFK has developed partnerships with some of the leading peanut researchers at American universities - including the University of Georgia and Cornell University - to bring the best minds to bear on Haitian peanut production.
“We are good farmers here in Haiti, and we have good land but all we know is what our grandfathers and their grandfathers knew. Sometimes all we need is some new knowledge—so thank you for coming.”
